Sign up for my newsletter (no spamming your inbox full…promise!) here: But I love books more.Ĭome hang out with me in my Facebook Group Nora’s Nook where I share previews, sneak peeks, freebies, fun stuff, and much more. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as it has a happy end. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken.but find their happy ever after anyway. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. Would you like the long or the short version of my bio? 5/13/2023 0 Comments Travel yuichi yokoyamaSketches and layout ideas for the English edition of Travel Just this week, Yokoyama's newly-released to America (and wordless!) manga, Travel, was named to PW's best comics of 2008 list. When I read it, it really feels like the book was created by an aesthetically empathetic alien possessed by vastly superior sensory organs. Yokoyama has quickly become one of the contemporary artists I'm most fascinated with his experimental and architectural manga is literally like nothing I've ever seen. These pieces of original work were used in planning and production of PictureBox's gorgeous English editions of his work. Recently on the PictureBox site, publisher Dan has shared some incredible original paintings and sketches by New Engineering and Travel author, Yuichi Yokoyama! I'm gonna try to start posting stuff that isn't related the the zine (we'll see how long it lasts, haha). 5/13/2023 0 Comments Thunder Dog by Michael HingsonThis also serves as contrast to Roselle’s unshakable calm and heroism in the ensuing tragedy to come. Roselle is terrified of an approaching thunderstorm, and this helps the reader empathize with her as an animal with feelings and fears. In chapter 1, the authors show Hingson and Roselle at home the evening before the hijacked airplane attacks on the World Trade Center. Hingson’s parents refused to treat their son as a liability, and Hingson learned to be self-sufficient in a world that saw him as handicapped. Hingson and co-writer Susy Flory, open the book with a history of the disease called retinopathy of prematurity that blinded thousands of premature babies in the 1940s and early 1950s. Thunder Dog is the riveting account of their escape from death. Hingson, blind from infancy due to a medical procedure used to provide oxygen to premature babies, his guide dog, Roselle, and a small group of employees descended Stairwell B in a race to get out of the building before it collapsed. Michael Hingson was working on the 78th floor in Tower 1 of the World Trade Center on Septemwhen American Airlines Flight 11 flew into floors 93 through 99 of the building. Putting these inside the 's/OLD_TEXT/NEW_TEXT/g' paradigm you get Slash is the debut album by American rock and roll musician Saul Slash Hudson, best known as the lead guitarist of Guns N Roses. So for you, OLD_TEXT = '\\' and NEW_TEXT = '\/'. In general slashes are quite special and must be handled as such. This is where you must use forward slashes as separators.įor your case OLD_TEXT = '\' and NEW_TEXT = '/'. The trailing 'g' just says to replace all occurrences on a given line, not just the first.Īnd of course you need to separate the 's', the 'g', the old, and the new from each other. The leading 's' just tells it to search for OLD_TEXT and replace it with NEW_TEXT. The sed command in this case is 's/OLD_TEXT/NEW_TEXT/g'. $ echo "C:\Windows\Folder\File.txt" | sed -e 's/\\/\//g' Proposed GOP cuts would slash 30 billion from veterans spending. And, wow, does it ever." - The New York Times I anticipated that at some point a shocking twist would come. And it's undoubtedly true, as the authors claim, that "Flexner and the foundation had no intention of making such training available" to anyone except the wealthy white men who attended the schools which received grants from the Carnegie Corporation by whom Flexner was employed. Not allowed into the more prestigious schools, those who were black and female and sought a medical career found their schools were almost universally forced to close after the report revealed their education to be sub-standard. For example, the 1910 Flexner report, which revolutionized American medical education at a time when anyone could set up a medical practice or even a school, was surely as the authors contend a devastating influence on blacks and women. Nevertheless, I was able to overlook what I thought were glaring omissions. cringe a little at what read now like overstatements and overly militant ways of stating things." From what I've read of Ehrenreich's work, I wonder if more of her books wouldn't be better-served to have this type of warning in the introduction. I adored this book, especially since the authors included a caveat at the beginning which attempted to neutralize any overly-vehement or one-sided arguments, ".we. 5/13/2023 0 Comments Words on bathroom walls booksWhen he meets Maya, a fiercely intelligent girl, he desperately wants to be the great guy that she thinks he is.
